Join celebrated Port Philip artists Judith and Elizabeth Stoney as they celebrate another year with an Opening Night Charity Fundraiser to launch Middle Park Gallery's Annual End of Year Exhibition. The exhibition will be launched by Archdeacon Philip Newman OAM , who heads the Anglicord Charity to which 20% of the door fee will be donated.

2005 has been a mammoth for both mother and daughter with over one hundred pieces painted in the past 12 months. What's on display is only a fraction of their output! To ensure the exhibition remains accessible the pair have focused on presenting affordable quality art.

Portraiture aficionados will have plenty to ponder with some of Elizabeth's 216 abstract/expressionistic paintings on display. Many of her sitters were captured during the artists much publicised public art exhibition-slash-demonstration at the Glass Atrium, entrance to the Ian Potter Gallery at Federation Square in June. You may have caught sight of Elizabeth when she appeared on Channel 10 News, in full swing, whilst her subject, the weather anchor, broadcast live from the hot seat. Or again on Channel 7 Sydney later on in the year. There have been many articles in the Melbourne press not the least of which was the insightful article in The Age by arts writer Craig Scutt.

Crowds gathered for the duration of this marvellous one-woman event at Federation Square, which was launched by Port Phillip Mayor, Darren Ray and NGV director, Dr. Gerard Vaughan , and during which Elizabeth is understood to have set a new world record for the most portraits consecutively painted over 7 days.

Not to be outshone by her daughter, Judith Stoney will be presenting a series of spectacular nude drawings recently hung in the Deputy Premier John Thwaites offices at Parliament House as part of the City of Port Phillip Southside Arts Project . Included amongst these popular nudes are two huge canvases of the Kimberley Ranges...a must see for those interested in this region of Australia - simply for the unique sense of worship and colour play that the artist has imbued them with.

Middle Park Gallery is taking the opportunity to launch a Limited Edition collection of Judiths nudes which makes affordable, these sensual and popular charcoals.
