Judith Stoney

Foundation Life Member of the Benalla Regional Art Gallery. Works in oil, watercolour, ink, pastel, various drawing mediums as well as printmaking. Working mostly from her studio at Middle Park Gallery with annual painting trips to outback Australia or Europe.

Studied & Practiced at:

Caulfield Technical College, Melbourne University, University High School, R.M.I.T, Central University of Minority Cultures, Beijing, China.
Resident Artist at Brush 'n' Bristle Studio Gallery 2000-2001.
Resident artist at Middle Park Fine Art Gallery & Studio [155 Mills St., Middle Park 3206].
Painting expedition to Broken Hill and surrounding areas. Fulfilled commissions for the majority of the year - 2003.

Recent major works:

'La Serie Joyeuse' consisting of 2 oil on canvas panels,1m x 1.8m and 4 mixed media works
'Apollo Bay Series', watercolour and Chinese ink on Arches 100% cotton, all works 100x80cm
'Warped Gum Series' unique and individual interpretation of the Australian Eucalypt, all works approximately 2 x 1.5m.
'Medusa of the Sea', 2001' two oil on canvas panels attached vertically, overall dimension 1.4 x 4m
'Inland Seas Series' Judith's response to the Kimberley region of Central and Western Australia. She intends a suite of around 20 paintings, mostly large acrylic on canvas paintings that teeter on the cusp of landscape and religious art ~ as they combine the tradition of the icon with native spirit figures. Recent paintings from this series are hanging at the Australian Medical Association offices on Royal Parade, various corporate venues and in private collections.
2003: A series of charcoal nude studies, Luna Park Carousel Triptych, 'I bought a bicycle' group of paintings.
